Those in search of software that enables e-Learning will find themselves drowned in a wide spectrum of available products starting from simple HTML editors, group-ware for collaborative working or teaching to complex and expensive turn-key learning management software packages that can only be handled by IT-experts.
Besides the problem to identify an adequate and suitable learning management software to administer users and seminars, schools, companies and universities are faced with another problem:
How can the teacher himself create learning content and a virtual classroom in a cost-effective way without the need of weeks of training, without having to buy additional and complex authoring systems and without having to rely on the assistance of an IT expert.

The project aims to develop a concept, to structure, to design, program and implement a new generation of learning-management-system that pioneers e-learning for schools, companies and Universities alike with the following specification:
The system shall: | ...be independent from operating systems (Windows, LINUX, MAC, Sun)
| | ...run on the basis of open source databases and programming languages to stay independent from proprietary software
| | ...run in any browser without additional client-software on the PC of the user
| | ...the system shall be multi-lingual
| | ...all formats of learning content shall be possible including SCORM, video-streaming, flash-animated learning content etc.
| | ...allow all kinds of quizzes. Creating quizzes and tests shall be possible online by the teacher himself and on the server without the need of an additional authoring software
| | ... allow to create virtual classrooms without the help of IT experts or an IT department
| | ...easily be adapted to the structure of a school, a company and a university likewise.
| | ...optionally offer a shop so learning content can be sold internationally
| | ...offer a variety of synchronous and asynchronous communication methods including optional video-capability to ensure a lively learning experience between a global audience.
| | ...be structured that a content-management-system is fully integrated into the learning-management-system so the web-site itself and the eCampus can be set-up and managed as an integrated system based on a single database system to avoid redundant data maintenance and to avoid system-interfaces.
| | ...be implemented and run as the e-learning platform under heavy load in the day to day operation of the Educatis-GSM Graduate School of Management. |

The solution is eCampus. Just register as guest with Educatis-GSM and try it out.
